Sometime in Year 1, I had this weird argument debate with one of my coursemates about whether the default setting position for the toilet seat on the toilet bowl was supposed to be up or down.
He claimed that the correct position for the toilet seat is UP, and when girls needed to use it, they would have to put it DOWN and after that return it to the UP position. As far as I know, the toilet seat should be DOWN, and when guys need to use it, its up to them whether they prefer it UP or DOWN.
After all, have you ever entered a toilet in a hotel with the seat UP? I would think it looks rather unsightly, with those blocks of whatever-it-is showing up on the underside (though the newer seats nowadays may not have those blocks anymore). And besides, after googling for images on toilet bowls, I hardly found any with the seat UP.
Anyway, up to now, our debate has not reached a conclusion.

I would prefer it.. well, down. I agree that it looks a little strange up. But I’ve noticed that in most male toilets the seat is normally up.

I’m used to having the toilet seat up. I think it’s coz I’ve never come across a clean toilet seat before so it kinda grossed me out. And the surface area without the toilet seat is smaller for me to clean before I put my arse on it =P
I guess my BF’s lucky to have me so we dun have to argue bout who didn’t put the toilet seat back up.
But of course, dun ever try to pee without the seat down (for girls) during winter or your butt would stick to it like glue.
